-Carly Vega

When did you start your business & what made you decide this career path?  I went full time in 2014.  Being a makeup artist / hair stylist, I knew I could pack up and move my business anywhere he went.

Where have you lived and what has been your favorite base so far?  I’ve been fortunate to love Virginia Beach the most. Guam was pretty and so was Maine, but Virginia Beach is my favorite as a wife. Growing up, we lived in Okinawa, Japan for 6 years and that was my most favorite place to live.

What is the biggest challenge of being a military spouse and pursuing your career?  We haven’t faced any hurdles just yet, I left corporate America in 2014 and we’ve been here ever since.

What are your other hobbies?  I love to crochet and all things food. We love to cook and host dinner parties (pre Covid).

What are some benefits of being a military spouse as a business owner?  I understand the milspo life. I understand financial hardships and having to up and move every 3 years. I’ve been there and I love to relate and share stories. Some business will only work with Vetran associated businesses.  I also relate very well to milspo community.

If you could, what advice would you give yourself when you first started your business? Be prepared to start over, over again. And you can do it!  You can start over and build a new amazing business no matter where you go.  Networking in the milspo groups are amazing!
