“Don’t be afraid to fail  because it’s in those moments of failure that we get stronger!”

-Jamie Ray

When did you start your business & what made you decide this career path? I started my business back in 2016. I am a true Education Enthusiast! My passion is education, and although I don’t teach in a physical classroom I am still an educator. Momucator is what I like to call myself. My love for education and my children it’s what led me down the path of homeschooling. I’ve been certified through the military to be an in home educator and I eventually plan to have my own school based on homeschooling methods. My favorite part about what I do is showing parents how to use what they have at home to teach their scholars!

Where have you lived and what has been your favorite base so far? I’ve lived in Pensacola, Florida, Fort Meade, Maryland, San Diego, California, and Sicily, Italy. Italy (Sigonella) has been my favorite because it’s a country like lifestyle. You have to go out in town to grocery shop and you get to experience the authentic culture of Italy. Also we’ve traveled to so many other countries for cheap! My family of four flew to Santorini, Greece for €35 each round trip. I will always be grateful for the cheap travel

What is the biggest challenge of being a military spouse and pursuing your career? The biggest challenge I face in pursuing my career is having to start over every three years! It’s like right when you’re comfortable, built rapport within your community, it’s time to go. And then you have to do it all over again!

What are your other hobbies? My other hobbies are traveling, shopping at the thrift store or swap meets, and creating diy home decor around my home!

What are some benefits of being a military spouse as a business owner? The greatest benefit of being a military spouse when it comes to my career is meeting and supporting other military spouses! It’s the greatest joy! We often as spouses leave behind our families and villages to accompany our spouses. With that being said, when we begin to create businesses and income for ourselves, the journey can be lonely. But I am very intentional about supporting other spouses as we build businesses.
If you could, what advice would you give yourself when you first started your business? The best advice I’d give is to DO IT AFRAID AND FAIL FAST! I believe many entrepreneurs get caught up in being and looking so perfect before pouring our gift out to the world. But I believe we learn faster once we actually begin our business. Don’t be afraid to fail  because it’s in those moments of failure that we get stronger!
